The California Association of Public Insurance Adjusters will hold a continuing education session followed by legislative day next week. It will fittingly be held in Sacramento, California, so that public adjusters can visit government leaders. Assuming that I finish and do not sink during the Islands Race to San Diego on Merlin this weekend, I will be making a presentation with Amy Bach of United Policyholders next Tuesday, February 27.

This year a new Executive Director, Robb Greenspan has been appointed by the Board. And in an effort to unify Northern and Southern California, a new Vice President of Northern California for CAPIA, Gordon Scott was appointed to both CAPIA’s Board and the newly formed executive committee to deal with Senate Bill 488.

Next Friday, the California Association of Public Adjusters will celebrate with founder Stan Kaufman, at their bi-monthly luncheon in Simi Valley. But it is Robin Kaufman, Stan’s daughter, who is making headlines. On July 7, the California Insurance Commisioner held a press conference. In the press conference, Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones advised California insureds to be prepared with evacuation plans and an inventory of personal belongings in case a wildfire should erupt. Jones warned that homeowners needed to be extra vigilant and make sure there is defensible space around their homes and property.
