This week, a new Board of Directors was slated for the Association of Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City. I’m proud to announce that I will serve as President of AWL.
The Association for Women Lawyers is a non-profit organization, formed in 1976, that promotes the equality of women and others within society in general and within the legal profession in particular. The association provides abundant opportunities to learn, network and lead and the opportunity to engage in philanthropic work through the AWL Foundation.
I have been involved with AWL for the past 17 years. It is a great organization that has helped many members in both their professional and personal lives. It has seen me transition from a law student, to a prosecutor, to a defense attorney, to owning my own law firm and to my practice with Merlin Law Group. AWL has placed its trust in me and given me the helm. I’m very excited to serve as President, and have many exciting things planned for 2015.
One of the great things about working for Merlin Law Group is the support. Many of the attorneys are involved in associations or serve as counsel to organizations, and the firm supports and encourages the same. As a nationwide firm with offices coast to coast, many Merlin attorneys are licensed in numerous states. One of my licenses is in Missouri, where I’ve been practicing for almost 15 years. AWL has been there to support me and encourage me and I’m proud to be a member and now President.
