These days cyber risks and cyber insurance are hot topics in almost every industry. In a recent post I wrote about the Top Seven Things Public Adjusters Should Know About Cyber Risks and Cyber Insurance.

Earlier this month I had the distinct pleasure of presenting with co-speaker Robert Glasser on cyber insurance issues at the First Party Claims Conference. We discussed “Cyber Claims – Impact of Every Day Cyber Intrusions, Claims and Coverages” with an engaging audience of public adjusters and other professionals. Our discussion offered a valuable overview of the ubiquitous nature of cyber-attacks; threat actors and targeted industries; various types of cyber-attacks, such as phishing and social engineering fraud; cyber-physical attacks and the Internet of Things; and related cyber insurance coverage issues, including business interruption claims stemming from a cyber loss.

The takeaway was that cyber-risks are not as far removed from brick and mortar first-party claims as they might otherwise seem.

For those who are interested in learning more about cyber claims and this rapidly evolving area, our presentation materials are available here. Check back soon as we will continue to follow and write about cyber risks and cyber insurance developments. Feel free to contact me if you would like additional information.
