About a year ago, I posted a blog, Kevin McCarty and the Florida Cabinet.

At that time, there was chatter that Commissioner McCarty would be fired by the Financial Services Commission (made up of the Governor, Attorney General, and CFO). Thankfully, he was not let go.

However, late yesterday afternoon it was announced that McCarty would be resigning.

For the same reasons set out in that prior blog, his departure is a very bad thing for Florida insurance consumers. Commissioner McCarty has been a stalwart protector of consumer rights and is recognized as a national leader in the insurance industry. . .maybe that is why the powers that be wanted him gone?
