An appraisal of a disputed roof loss resulted in Citizens Property Insurance Company sending a salvage letter stating the following:

Is Citizens now in the business of trying to harvest used roof tiles from damaged roofs and place them onto roofs of other policyholders? The above photo shows how well harvesting tiles works. It is a disaster for the policyholder and results in lower-valued structures that actually lower the value of entire communities.

Do the claims executives at these “us versus our customer” insurance companies have any empathy for their customers? Do they follow anything close to the Golden Rule most of us learned as children? Mandating placing used roof tiles on another structure is crazy. It does not work.

Just when you think you have seen it all from the slow and underpaying insurance claims industry, these geniuses think up another way to have customers lose faith in it.

An Afternoon Thought

The golden rule for every business man is this: Put yourself in your customer’s place.
