For me lately, this land is in New Jersey and New York and involves Superstorm Sandy losses. Yet, I keep getting sucked back into hail damage losses from Phoenix and Colorado. Members in my firm are entrenched all over the United States as insurers are placing more objective measures on claims payouts to policyholders and questioning those employees and independent adjusters who “pay too much.” Computers are keeping score much better and the Land of Denial is growing.

Some may be skeptical of this Insurance Company Land of Oz. So, I will challenge any insurer, their employees, any insurance trade association member, any insurance claims attorney or anybody, to show me one instance of an adjuster losing a promotion or having his salary or bonus reduced for paying too little in the year 2014—except for those adjusters and claims managers getting caught with a bad faith lawsuit verdict!
