It’s that time of year again. The countdown to the 2014 Legislative Session has begun. Although the Session does not officially begin until March 4, 2014, several insurance related bills have been filed already. In addition, the House and Senate insurance committees are meeting to discuss these bills and other issues of importance to insurance consumers around the state. Go to www.policyholdersofflorida.com and click on “Bills to Watch” for a complete (and up to date) list of all insurance-related bills that have been filed in the House and Senate.

In addition, there are links to the committee pages and a list of important dates/events for the 2014 Session. With this information, it will be easy for you to track the progress of important bills and even plan a trip to Tallahassee to speak on these bills. For example, if you see that a certain bill is going to be heard in an upcoming meeting of the House Insurance and Banking Committee, click on the House Insurance and Banking Subcommittee link at the bottom of page. The link will take you to the committee webpage where you can download all relevant documents, view all committee members and their contact information, and determine the agenda for that particular meeting.

The page will be updated regularly. If you have any suggestions on how we can make the website easier or more useful, please email Sean Shaw at sshaw@merlinlawgroup.com.
